Ignoring or avoiding Mikhail Benovich was not an option. When he wanted something, he went after it with everything. Seeing Kristen across the room, he decided he wanted her. A month after their first meeting, they were married. Two months later, Kristen found herself pregnant. And two months after that, her unborn baby girl was fighting for her life.

Kristen left the stressful lifestyle, but never meant to leave Mikhail. Diligently, she sent him a letter each month detailing the progress of her pregnancy, the birth of their beautiful baby girl, and all the milestones of her young life.

Three years later, Mikhail finds one of those letters and is furious, unaware until that moment that he is a father! He immediately goes to find his daughter, determined to win custody, only to find that, not only does his daughter recognize him, but his three year old daughter is barreling towards him, throwing herself into his arms in her excitement that he’d finally arrived.

Something doesn’t add up and he’s determined to get to the bottom of the issue. And get his family back, even if his estranged wife is opposed.

This is the fourth book I've read from Elizabeth Lennox and it is pretty much the same story as the other books. The background of the hero is even the same as another character in a different book. I think this story could have been a lot better if she just would have explored some of the teasers she laid out and if the consistency in the story line was double checked.
SPOILERS
Some of the major things that bothered me:
The hero has the exact same background as another character in a different book. Orphan who grew up on the streets of Russia, who didn't know his father and his mother was poor and could barely feed him until she died.
Basically the same story as her other books. H and h end up sleeping together, then the h wants to get to know the H better so she says no more sex, but the H just touches her and she gives in "that won't happen again" but it does then the hero shares his big secret history/childhood (see above for the big secrets) and now everything is fine, happily ever after.
Inconsistencies in the story.
H tells h that he never knew his father, but then she is still saying things like "Your father wasn't in your life much, was he?" And "you never knew your father did you?" He just told you this 3 pages ago, so why are you acting like you just figured this out on your own?
The hero doesn't own a cell phone??!?? This is suggested since his wife never once called it to tell him about the baby and then even vaguely mentioned, but then she tells him that she had sent him a text and he admits to receiving it. So he obviously has a cell phone and she has the number, but you would never call it (or send another text) to tell him about his child. I have a hard time believing this.
Characters names are switched or changed throwing off your reading. Also he/she and his/hers is mixed up a lot making you reread to understand who she is referring to.
Some foreshadowing was done with the assistant but was never followed up on. She makes some phone calls after she realizes he knows about his child, and she says thing have been set in motion. But what are these things? Who does she call? We never know. Then when he has his security go check his assistants office they find her burning the letters. In the office??!?? Really? We are expected to believe that she has a fire going in the middle of her office? Why couldn't she be shredding them or took them home to burn. Craziness.
What I did like:
I know that some people think it's to short, but that doesn't bother me. I just wish it was checked for consistency. Especially since it can be finished in just a few hours (or less) the errors become very noticeable.

Final thoughts, don't pay $3 for it. Not worth it. I've gotten free books from Amazon that are much better and have become some of my favorites, this one can't even complete.

Instantly intrigued by blurb. Even read the 'Look Inside'. Took book. Within minutes I became bogged down in pasting that wasn't really needed. Story probably would have been better for me without Rehash that was explained nicely in first scene. Story went to fast. Way to fast. Felt shorted. Characters cleared up situations with a leaf blower by blazing through explanations the moment they were brought up. So, if it's still free, go for it. It just didn't feel complete. Loved the idea, fresh to me.
Well written. Stars are for the writer, good idea. Wish you'd have put some real time into it. No stars for the story. I felt sometimes like I was reading a comprehensive outline that had been put into dialogue. Too many ideas for too short a story. Seriously disapointed.
Mikhail is a true alpha male with a tortured emotional past. His anger and hurt from that past keeps him from establishing deep relationships and knowing only how to get what he wants. He meets Kristen and knows he wants her. He gets her and when a crisis hits, instead of trying to work through it, he lets his anger lead him away from the one woman he truly wants in his life. Mikhail is hardened and believes he can withstand any pain until Kristen isn't there anymore.

Kristen falls in love with Mikhail and tries to change her life to fit Mikhail's. When a life or death situation arises, she walks out. She believes she is leaving the right way by sending a letter to Mikhail at this office detailing her wishes and hoping he will come after her. Three years later, she is still waiting for Mikhail to heal her wounds.

Kristen and Mikhail learn several lessons through their marriage and separation, one of which is person to person communication. An alpha male must learn to bend, forgive and trust if he wants to have a dream he never thought to have. A caring woman who loves an alpha must learn to be strong and fight for him instead of leaving.
It was okay. I just wish he would have been faithful to her. He only slept with a few women after she left because he was hurt and then he stopped, which is better than him being a man whore afterwards. I wish there was more interaction between the main characters. The daughter was advanced for 3. She would act like she was 8ish by talking the way she did but then she would do something that put her around 2ish. It was weird and made me think that Ms. Lennox has never been around children before.
